Helping Those in Need

Ignite A Life Foundation was launched in 2013 with the dream of then 15-year-old Alexander Muto. A native of Maui, Hawai’i, Muto was troubled by the disparity in financial and educational opportunities available to many of his classmates.
With a strong desire to help others, he created the foundation, with his mother Robin, to increase the educational opportunities and earning power of the youth in Hawai’i.
Just five years prior to launching Ignite A Life, Muto was a student at Lindamood-Bell’s seasonal learning clinic on the island. Alexander was diagnosed with dyslexia and bullied at school. Seeing Stars instruction was life-changing for him.
Muto saw his opportunity as a way to help others. He learned to lead and saw the importance of a person’s belief system on their quality of life.
Over the years, Ignite A Life has worked with the Kaho’olawe Island Reserve Commission, the Department of Education of Maui County, 19 different high schools throughout Maui County, and students coming from rural communities. The Foundation recently started the Hawai’i Youth to Medicine Program to help create the next generation of doctors, which is so desperately needed in Hawai’i.
The Foundation is currently focused on helping victims of the tragic Lahaina fire through their Maui Fire Disaster Relief Fund. 100% of donations go to fire survivors and will be channeled in the form of housing subsidies, clothing, hygiene products, food, and water for displaced students and families.
