The Lightbulb Turned On

"I used the On Cloud Nine Math manual as a resource when I reintroduced fractions w/ the cubes for my student this morning. I asked her 'How many 5s can we get out of 25?' She used her cubes to discover that there are 5! I showed her how the problem looks on paper. Then did a few more with and without remainders, each time showing her the problems and what the answer looks like after she used the cubes.

Her body language changed from timidness to a huge smile as she finally understood the concept of the division. Nothing beats hearing the words: 'THAT IS SO COOL.'

Lucky me. I love being there when the lightbulb turns on for a student and their world opens up."
